ON TARGET is a one-of-a-kind sculpture made from vintage and antique found objects, with the theme being bird hunting. Just like the sportsman that hunts waterfowl, the artist did their own hunting to track down perfect pieces to create this handsome art assemblage. How many birds do you see? Yes there is the wonderful antique L.L. Bean Gunning decoy and of course the two hand carved wood Doves. Any others? Don’t forget about the Pigeon… the clay pigeon that is.
That just another detail the artist from Van Dusen Clockworks are so well known for. Continuing with the theme they have added old rifle stocks flanking each side and an ornate antique metal stove grate at the base, set with six 12 gauge shotgun shell caps. Even the working quartz movement clock has a pendulum with another shotgun cap set dead center in the middle.
There are more distinct and unusual pieces the artist used, to give it that folk art look of vintage Americana. This art assemblage also includes the artist traditional watch fob nameplate as well as the mounted plaque with the artist signature and date.
